Anglo-Saxon Zoomorphic Fish Brooch. Circa 5th-7th century AD. Copper-alloy, 7.00g. 47.31 mm. A A rare brooch in the form of a fish decorated with a lateral line formed of pellets running from the head to the tail. The fins each have an incised line decoration highlighting the shape. The reverse has two lugs and traces of iron, remains of the pin and catch plate. No reference for a bronze example has been found but the form is similar to the more decorative silver and garnet pieces recorded in the UK. Ref: Westbere (Anglo-Saxon cemetery) Kent. CANCM:6422.
