Limoges Saint. Circa 12th century CE. 27mm, 11.62g. A section of a champlevé enamel and gilded copper anthropomorphic representation of a saint, depicting the nimbate head of a clean shaven male figure, looking a little to his left. The face is white with eyes, eyebrows, nose mouth and chin indicated by simple darker marks. Five luxuriant locks of hair are indicated by lines of black and white. A circle of red, a halo, is at the margin of the plate and the field between this and the figure is textured and gilded. Recorded on the PAS database: WILT-837046.
