Late Roman-early Byzantine bronze bell. Circa 4th-5th century CE. 27mm. A beautifully well preserved bracelete bell decorated with engraved banding and an inscription. Suspension loop and ringer intact. Romans used bells in ritual and secular contexts. Examples like this one may have hung from the necks of small animals, were worn as talismans or as anklets by servants.
