Anglo-Saxon Keystone Disc Brooch. Circa 6th century CE. Heavily gilded (chip-carved) face with most of its surface intact. The brooch is decorated with raised motifs representing helmeted heads in Style I, between seven integrally-cast cells, three rectagular cells with a smaller one between each, around a larger central circular cell. These would have originally been set with polished garnets. 8.79g, 40mm. This brooch fits with those classified by Avent (1975) as class 1.1.
