Renaissance Gold Signet Ring. Circa 1550-1600. Gold, 9.64 grams. 22.02 mm. UK ring size, P. US size, 7.5. A heavy signet-ring with a plain hoop that widens at the shoulders to a flat oval bezel. The bezel has a toothed border and is engraved with a monogram PS in reverse, the letters of which are joined by a Bowen knot in the centre and an elaborate not below. Above, the two strands of the knot expand in to a series of floral tassels. The underside of the bezel has a makers mark, G within a shield.
