Roman Cockerel Brooch. Circa 1st-2nd century CE. A zoomorphic plate brooch in the form of a strutting cockerel (or hen), forward facing head, curved tail, leg and foot. The body is decorated with two cells of red and blue enamel. Copper-alloy, 5.19g. 38mm. Ref: Mackreth, 2011 vol.2, p. 129, pl. 126, no. 8023 and Hattatt, 2000. p.360, fig.219, no.163.
